November 2003: Thank You.
The MANOVERBOARD Telegraph, No. 8.
Welcome to the November 2003 Telegraph. The Telegraph is the monthly newsletter of record from MANOVERBOARD, a Web and print design company located in Brooklyn, New York. MANOVERBOARD creates and develops clean, clear, and compelling websites and visual resources for small and large organizations. As we approach Thanksgiving, we thought it would appropriate to give thanks throughout.
Recent Project: MANOVERBOARD.com
That's correct — MANOVERBOARD completely rebuilt MANOVERBOARD.com this month. You probably won't notice any essential differences in the new website, which is exactly the point. The new site is built entirely with structured XHTML, the new lingua franca for ensuring that web content can be read more easily, and CSS, which controls the format, colors, and behavior of the site. There are no tables, no crazy fake paragraphs, and no muss nor fuss.
Here's what the new MANOVERBOARD site does do. It complies with current Web standards. It is much more easily read on PDAs, screen readers (for those with visual disabilities), and text browsers. It loads in any browser in about 1/2 the amount of time. It's backward compatible, meaning it looks okay in even very old browsers. And, whether the site needs new formatting or new content, updating it will be far easier in the future.
Now the thank you part. Thanks to CSS guru Michael Barrish. Thanks to Jacob Dobkin who tirelessly argued for this redesign. And thanks to Jeffrey Zeldman again for inspiration.
New Clients: Sites Launching Soon
We're honored to have a few new clients working with us this month, including Monika Lozinska Lee Photography, Spondizo (a new site by Duane Bidwell), Felt Goods nyc, and Hendrickson Custom Cabinetry. More about each one soon. Welcome aboard and thank you.
