December 2004: Happy New Year.
The MANOVERBOARD Telegraph, No. 16.
Welcome to this year's final MANOVERBOARD Telegraph. We'll keep this one short, focusing on a new client, sites we've designed this year, and what's in store for 2005.
Generation Investment Management
Generation, an investment management firm headquartered in London, U.K., asked that MANOVERBOARD create an elegant, cogent and unique website for the company's initial launch in November 2004. This launch coincided with a lead Financial Times article about the company and its team. Vice President Al Gore and David Blood, former CEO of Goldman Sachs Asset Management, are two of the six founding partners.
The Generation website articulates the company's philosophy, objectives, and values and provides critical information for prospective clients. Mr. Gore was involved in the strategic and creative production of the website, which complies to Web standards and is accessible to those with disabilities. Please read the Generation case study for more information.
2005 Websites
MANOVERBOARD designed and built more than a dozen websites this year, from e-commerce sites to weblogs to marketing-based sites. Each one was a pleasure and a challenge. They include:
- Barneys New York [redesign]
- Canopy Designs, Ltd.
- Doubet Consulting
- Hendrickson Custom Cabinetry
- Lelia & Andrea
- Monika Lozinska Lee Photography
- Phytomedics
- Spondizo.net
- stone circles
- Stonewater Control Systems
- TeachersCount [more about this site in January]
Special thanks go out to all those who worked so hard on these sites, including Michael Barrish, Sean Lyons, David Blaikie, Christa Bianchi and Jonathan Zacks.
2004 and The Year 2005
The last week of this year has been a difficult one as we've all witnessed the tragedy of the Asian tsunami. Donating online to charities may be one of the best ways to help those in need—you might find the Network for Good website valuable.
MANOVERBOARD will offer a number of new design services in 2005. Most will focus on specialized design needs of the Web. They include icon design for software, folders, and online applications; Web standards-based business presentations; and a range of new consulting services such as stock photography searches.
In the meantime, please let us know if you'd like to receive our complimentary 2005 wall calendar. Please provide your mailing address and the number of calendars you'd like. If you've already send us your info, your calendar is on its way. Wishing you a very happy and healthy New Year.
