Website Upgrades

Every website is a work in progress! We want your site to continue to meet your needs and to exceed visitors' expectations. Sometimes that means upgrading part of your site and adding new features. For clients on our Website Care plans, we offer website upgrades as an additional service.

Website upgrades include things like new page layers, custom development for new features, API integrations, changes to donation systems, and form and content integrations. Once an estimate is approved, upgrades are typically scheduled at the beginning or the middle of the month.

Each plan includes the following:

All of our Website Care plans come with six-month contracts. Each plan contains one website training session, web font hosting and a staging environment for you to try content updates out before they go live.

Every month, we update code frameworks, plug-ins and content management systems cores with a “we break it, we fix it” policy.

Every day, your site is backed automatically so that you don't have to worry about your website being potentially defaced or lost permanently should it get hacked.

For the duration of the contract, you will receive 24/7 access to our support hub that includes articles, documentation, tutorials and more. We are there for you with weekday daytime live support, including chat.

1 Hour of Support

All of our plans include up to one hour of support from the developers who know your website best. This includes:

  • General content updates (copy changes, image adding and editing) within the site’s content management system.
  • Overall advice on your website’s platform.
  • Assistance with the platform’s interface and existing features and functions.

This one hour of support does not cover changes to the code or any new or third-party features or functions. If you need additional website upgrades we will be happy to provide you with an estimate.

1 or 2 Hours of Modifications

Our Care+ plan includes one hour of modifications, and our Care++ plan includes two hours of modifications. Included are modifications of an existing website feature, and troubleshooting and diagnostics of existing website features.

These modifications do not cover any integration of new or third-party features or functions. If you need additional website upgrades we are happy to provide you with an estimate.

Bi-Annual Site Review & Repair

Every six months, clients on our Care+ and Care++ plans will receive a report outlining suggested upgrades in four categories: problems with SEO, coding best practices, and performance and accessibility recommendations. At your request, we will perform all of our suggested upgrades at no additional cost.

The internet changes and evolves quickly. After a site is live for a year or so, we typically find that accessibility issues emerge or a website's code base and database requires optimization. We have seen performance fixes dramatically increase the speed of a website across browsers and devices.

Priority Turnaround Time

For those on Care++  plans who need additional Website Upgrades, we will bump your request to the top of the list. 

As noted above, these Website Upgrades might include new page layers, new features and data integrations.

What is not included:

Our Website Care plans cover a lot! But the following services are not included:

  • Creation of new content (copywriting, illustration, image or video production)
  • Digital strategy, communications strategy or search engine optimization (SEO)
  • Accessibility audits, performance audits or design and content audits
  • Website upgrades such as design of new pages, features, sections or content areas; custom coding, API integrations, or changes to e-commerce and donation systems
  • IT support for email management, network infrastructure or other business technology advice
  • Support for third-party services (MailChimp, Salsa, Salesforce)
